Diego Pichay
Hip Hop | Breakdance
Diego Pichay remembers being surrounded by the hip-hop and urban dance community from a very young age. Many of his family members, including his father, were part of this community, giving Diego early exposure to a form of art that he deeply loves. While his father taught him basic breaking moves throughout his early years, Diego truly began his dance journey at 9 years old with Dance Progressions. Under the mentorship of Jason Taylor and his father, Diego continuously worked towards improving his urban dance skills. He was one of the first members of the Dance Progressions RAVE Team and continued competing with the team throughout high school. Also in high school, Diego danced with the “Breakdancing Shakespeare” program which not only made his skills blossom, but further broadened his view of the Connecticut dance community. After graduating high school, Diego dedicated more of his life to dance. He started training with local dance crews, began attending more battles, and even took an extended trip to NYC solely to train dance. Although still quite young in comparison to other dancers, Diego desires to make his craft a large part of his life through professional teaching and performing.
